1) To date, how have you used the money your division received for K-8 teachers' LwICT professional learning in 2008-09 and 2009-10?
  • one-on-one PD
  • out of division conferences
  • Small group sessions
  • Total school initiatives (e-portfolios)

2) What professional learning is occurring now because of the extra funding that you previously not able to do?
  • Out of division conferencing
  • Every teacher K-12 has had opportunity for training

3) Does your division have any strategies for ongoing professional learning (For example: Professional Learning Community - online, face-to-face, mentors, etc?)
  • Using IITV for PD
  • using first class conferences
  • Opportunities for revisiting lwict with 1st and 2nd year teachers...
  • Emphasis on using Web 2.0 tools (e.g. Wiki, MonkeySurvey, Flicker, compfight.com, etc)

4) What successful strategies would you like to recommend to other divisions?
  • grade group levels: keep similar grades together for inservicing
  • Keep conversations going with senior admin, board...re LwICT plans and levels of funding for infrastructure

  • Once per year currently; considering the move to 3 times per year

  • K-8

7) When does the reporting occur?
  • Currently once per year; looking at increasing to 3 times per year.

8) What feedback have you received from parents regarding reporting of Literacy with ICT?
  • Very little

9) In certain circumstances, a child may have more than one teacher. How would/do your teachers report on a child's literacy with ICT in this circumstance? Please discuss with your divisional team and record some possible strategies to address this issue.
  • In PWSD the homeroom teacher is responsible for reporting on LwICT; other teachers are still required to collaborate on the assessment with the homeroom teacher.

  • Currently once per year; looking at increasing to 3 times per year.


Transition to Senior Years


11) Thoughts on Literacy with ICT transition to the Senior Years
  • Looking at division initiative
  • TIP (Technology Infused Pedagogy)
    • based on IMYM and LwICT models
    • Create a blueprint for what a TIP classroom should look like.
      • Inquiry-based, cooperative (as opposed to group work) learning,
      • Success for all Learning, Independent Together, and current brain research
  • 21st Century teaching for 21st century learners
  • Paralleled with all 9-12 students having a personal netbook within 3 years.
  • All senior high schools to have wireless infrastructure


12 )Ongoing support for K-8 teachers
  • Developing First Class conferences to share resources
  • Update websites to link to exemplary web2.0 tools and LwICT sites
  • Fixed labs replaced with mobile carts
